There's no better way to enjoy your "Ultimate Driving Machine" than to get out on the road. It's even better when you venture out with fellow club members. Summers in Minnesota are brief. Make plans to hit the road and join in the fun!
Tour de Twine - Saturday, August 26, 2023 - 10:00 a.m.
Ok, admit it. You have always wanted to see the largest ball of twine in the world. A slice of MN lore you just have to see-- it's the largest ball of twine rolled by one man and it's right here in our backyard. We’ll head west and will make a loop on back roads leading to Darwin where the largest ball of twine resides (darwintwineball.com). Along the way to Darwin there will be a surprise stop you won't want to miss. (Hint: If you like cars, you'll love it.) We’ll relax afterwards at Jomas Hill Vineyard (jomashillvineyard.com) where they make handcrafted pizzas topped with locally sourced, seasonal ingredients all cooked in a wood-fired oven. Oh, and they have wine too. On the way back, we plan to also stop at Crow River Winery (Crowriverwinery.com) outside Hutchinson, and the Peppermint Twist Drive-In (the peppermint twist.com) in Delano.
The roundtrip is approximately 150 miles. With all the stops included, this will be a full day drive, but you can always head back home whenever you need to.
Because we are headed west, our departure point is different this month. We will be gathering at the Medina Entertainment Center located on Hwy 55. They have a huge parking lot and we'll be meeting on the west side. This will allow us to get on the road quickly and exit the metro area with few traffic signals to worry about.
Please plan to be there by 9:45 a.m. with your gas tank full. We'll get everyone to sign the liability waiver, review the route and hit the road.
When you register, be sure to add your passengers too. This will assist in making reservations at the winery/restaurant. Thanks!
