Driver check in opens at 8:00 a.m. and closes at 9:20 a.m. Once check-in closes at 9:20, you will be a spectator and not allowed to drive. Please plan to arrive early so you can walk the course at least once before the mandatory Driver Safety Meeting, which will occur at 9:30 a.m. Course walking will close at 9:15 a.m.

Typically we have three run groups, with a morning heat and an afternoon heat. Participants operate on a "Run, Work, Rest" schedule. We normally do not stop for lunch, so participants will have to bring their lunch or get food on their rest break. No make up runs are provided for failure to be back from lunch in time for your next run cycle.

To give the most number of runs to attendees, Windy City BMW utilizes hot worker swaps, meaning we do not stop running to swap run groups or workers. After you are done driving, you must park your car, grab some water, and check-in for your work assignment in a timely manner. Failure to check in for work can result in a loss of your run times!

Here is the basic schedule for an event:

8:00 a.m. - Driver Check-in
8:30-8:45 a.m. - Course opens for course walk
9:00 a.m. - Novice course walk
9:15 a.m. - Course walk window closes, walkers on course to finish up
9:20 a.m. - Driver check-in closes
9:30 a.m. - MANDATORY Driver Safety Meeting
9:55 a.m. - Group 1 drivers begin to stage cars
10:00 a.m. - First car out, continue running until end of event
4:00 p.m. - Final run completed.
4:15 p.m. - Awards ceremony

Most autocrossers bring some sort of rigid plastic container with them to an event. This is useful because it will give you a place to store your supplies and miscellaneous objects, while protecting them from the elements – we autocross rain or shine. Here are some recommended items to bring:

Sunscreen
Hat
Sunglasses
Sanitizing wipes
Plenty of water
Tire pressure gauge
Umbrella/poncho
Light jacket/sweatshirt
Helmet - SNELL rated SA 2015 or newer, or M rated dated 2015 or 2020 only
Folding chair
Windshield cleaner spray
Quick detail spray
Plug-in air compressor
Torque wrench with socket for your lug bolts
Pencil/notepad
Chalk for tires
Contrasting color painter’s tape for car numbers (IE white tape on blue car)
Comfortable walking and driving shoes
Snacks and/or lunch - (nearby food options as well)
