Route: Golden - Kenosha Pass - Salida
Skip the I-70 mindset! Enjoy a relaxed drive to Salida via US-285 to go south and west. US-285 has spectacular scenery, is a smaller highway, windy, with canyons, wide vistas, and elevation changes. It is 2 lanes in sections. Salida is a small town on the banks of the Arkansas River. In addition to the usual Outdoor Mountain recreation, the river adds water fun. Camping, Hiking, Biking, Fishing, Rafting, and Kayaking are popular and accessible. We will have a short restroom break at the top of Kenosha Pass, about an hour in. Pizza lunch will be courtesy of Amica's located at 127 F St, Salida, CO 81201; phone: (719) 539-5219. Folks will pay for their drinks. Feel free to linger, and make your fun way back. Options: US-24 West to Vail, CO-91 from Leadville, or US-24 East to Woodland Park.
This is a drive on public paved roads and is limited to 10 cars.

Starting Point: Meet at 8:45 am at Big Daddy Bagels in Golden, 106 N Rubey Dr, Suite D
Event Schedule
- 8:45 – Gather at Big Daddy Bagels in Golden. Fill up at the gas station next door if required
- 9:00-10:05 – Take US 285 to the summit of Kenosha Pass 57 miles [Google Maps Link}
- 10:05-10:30 – Short bathroom break at Kenosha Pass summit (port-a-potty)
- 10:30-12:10 – Resume drive to Salida. Use public parking. Lunch at Amicas (127 F-Street, Salida, CO 81201 (719) 539-5219
