Join us at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on August 21nd & 22rd for the Buckeye Chapter BMW CCA Driving School.  Mid-Ohio is an excellent venue with a great track and good facilities.

With current restrictions in mind, and due to BMW CCA policy, at this point we will ask, at check-in, your current status of completed vaccination for COVID-19 to participate in this driver’s school.  This would be required for any in-car instruction; driver or instructor.  If unvaccinated, you will be required to wear a mask when in car, classroom or any group meeting or event.  All un vaccinated will be issued a distinctive wristband.  You can decline to answer this question and be considered unvaccinated.  This restriction will be monitored and updated or removed as necessary.

The student cost is $525 members ($595 non-members) and  includes both Saturday and Sunday.  That's three half hour on track sessions each day.

Our current plan is to have 4 run groups with in-car instruction for all.  If, due to COVID restrictions or local issues we need to modify this, we will inform every participant and adjust as needed.

Non-members can go to www.bmwcca.org scroll to the bottom of the home page and sign up to become a member, it's cheaper than having us sign you up, then just use your new number to register as a member for the event.  BMW CCA membership is required to participate.

Instructors: $75.00 for Saturday and Sunday only. When you register for Saturday & Sunday an option for adding Friday will pop up.  There will be added an $150.00 for, basically, $225 for a 3 day weekend.

Instructors are required to review the Ross Bentley instructor manual.

Important note to all students: Use of R compound tires is discouraged for a beginning student.

A solo: we will run A solo at this event. If you have  a lot of experience at MidOhio and wish to run solo, please contact us for approval.

Driver's Schools are a great place to see just what you and your Bimmer (or other car) can do. The schools allow performance driving techniques coached from experienced instructors under the safest conditions possible. They are not races, but rather, a controlled environment in which you can push the envelope at your own pace. You'll learn how your car handles at high speed and under extreme cornering. Once you get a taste of how your car behaves under the intensity of track driving, you will be much better prepared for those highway "intense moments". Students are grouped into several categories depending on skills and previous school experience for both in-class and on-track sessions. This is a great investment for any driver, male or female, young or "experienced". We've yet to hear of anyone leaving a Driver's Schools without feeling they were a better driver.

Note: Qualified  students have the option driving on Friday August 19th- Advanced Study. Contact registrar (Lance) for approval.

For new participants, see information on the Buckeye web site https://buckeyebmwcca.org/driving-schools-racing/ for forms needed, this will include a medical form, helmet form and technical inspection that is required.  Also, go to this page: https://hpde-1st-timer.com with some good infomation from MSF, the Motorsport Safety Foundation.  This info isn't just for first timers.

We will be conducting an ITS (instructor training school) this weekend.  If becoming one of this elite group interests you and you are a qualified A student, have references from past chief instructors and are willing to learn; let us/Bill Wade know.  Contact Bill Wade, bill.wade@gmail.com.
