9:00  Meet at Chevron station, I-65 at County Road 42, Jemison (exit 219).  Overflow parking, if needed, across the road at truck stop or Exxon station.

9:30  Leave for Selma

10:45 (ish)   Arrive Jackson Historic House -$20.00 pay at the door.

12:00 Depart for the Edmund Pettus Bridge

12:10 Walk across the bridge and tour downtown Selma

1:15 Depart for The Sandbar restaurant at the Selma Marina on the Alabama River.  We have reservations on the covered but open deck, so dress accordingly. 

 

From Chevron Station:  I-65 at County Road 42, Jemison (exit 219).  Overflow parking, if needed, across the road at truck stop or Exxon station.

East on Co Rd 24 (4.1 mi)
Right on Highway 31, at the light (0.1 mi)
Left on AL 191, at the light (13.9 mi)
Right on AL 22, toward Maplesville (2.9 mi)
Watch speed.  PSL drops from 55 to 25 in about 1/4 mi.  Police station on left.
Left on AL 22 (15.7 mi)
Right on Co Rd 222, at sign for Paul Grist State Park (1.7 mi)
Left on Co Rd 37 (12.6 mi)
Stop at Selma University (1501 Lapsley St).  Park on campus.
Tour Jackson Historic Home / Museum  (1416 Lapsley St)
Continue south on Lapsley St (0.4 mi)
Left on JL Chestnut Jr Blvd, at the light (0.4 mi)
Right on US 80 Bus / Broad St (0.6 mi)
Cross Bridge.  Parking lot for Voting Rights Museum is on the right.  Or find a spot on the street in downtown Selma.
Meet on Bridge for group photograph.  Tour surrounding area.
From Edmund Pettus Bridge, proceed north on US 80 BUS / Broad St (0.4 mi)
Left on Dallas Ave / AL 22, at light (1.1 mi)
Left on Marina Dr, after crossing Valley Creek, just before football stadium (0.7 mi)
The Sandbar Restaurant is on the left.  Proceed with care on Marina Dr - rough surface, pot holes.

For anyone interested, Brown Chapel AME Church at 410 Martin Luther King St is about 0.3 mi NE of The Edmund Pettus Bridge.  It might be worth a drive-by on the way out of town.
